Brand You: Putting Your Best “Foot” Forward

dirtyshoes

You are meeting someone for the first time.

You look them in the eye, smile, check for sincerity in their facial expression, shake their hand, check for well-manicured fingers- possibly a ring too-  then… you check their shoes.

Shoes are a very important status symbol. They say a lot about how you choose to represent yourself. It is the last place a person’s eyes scan you before they  move back up to the your face to begin the conversation. The is the last first time that you’re being judged. What are your shoes saying about you?

Don’t think that people aren’t quietly judging your shoe wear because they are. Even if they don’t care about the latest fashions or what designer you are wearing, be SURE they are checking for modern, classy, event-appropriate , CLEAN, NON-SCUFFED shoes.

What you choose to walk in represents the rest of you because it supports all of your body. This is the visual representation of your core base support system. Putting your best foot  forward means exactly what you think it means.

Paying attention to the smaller details that bring your outfit together reflects on your overall brand. Regardless of whether or not you believe in a personal brand someone DOES and that someone is judging yours as soon as they see it.

  2. Good post and great metaphor for life. Look after your shoes, care about what people see. It is often the little things that we consider hidden that give the most away.

Shoes have a p*lace *in *our collective unconscious. We talk about walking in other peoples shoes, or being in other peoples shoes.

    Polish your shoes.
