1. I slept on the streets of Paris for a night
It was the most AMAZING and frightening experience of my life. I would never take it back. In retrospect it looks like i was overreacting, but try being in a foreign country penniless not knowing anyone. I’m very grateful to my father who helped me get back to London (eventually back to NYC). Also in that London sidetrip- Barcelona: 2 days of skateboarding & making 2 new NY friends who put me up in their flat, drinking Absinthe, then clubbing AND getting lost & finding my way back to the flat while being Absinthe’d, sunbathing the next day on the beach drinking Rum swimming out to the rocks cutting open my knee, clubbing my last night in Barcelona & LOSING MY CELLPHONE… THEN Paris begins. A crazy 10 day trip in which the craziest was in 4 days in Barcelona/Paris. Oh yeah, I love to skateboard & can do some tricks
2. I LOVE anime
I’ve probably seen more than you can name. I watch some on a weekly basis (Bleach, Soul Eater), although lately i have to watch them in doses due to my schedule filling up quite nicely. I even went to go see Ghost In The Shell 2 in the movie theatres with my best friend (I’m pretty sure he doesnt care for it, so in retrospect he’s a TRUE best friend). I love anything by Studio Ghibli, often touted as the Japanese Disney, and rightfully so. My favorite anime movie is Paprika. The concepts & visuals about the fluidity of dreams alone is enough for me. I highly recommend it especially to someone who cares not for anime. My mom HATES anime and she LOVES Studio Ghibli’s work, so that speaks volumes.
3. I make an AMAZING sauce
It’s pretty much required when youre Italian. By the way, I’m 75% Sicilian 25% Italian and if you ask me what’s the difference i’ll PROUDLY tell you. ;D (I have a basil plant. His name is Frank. He gives me the best basil. I give him the best love. and water.)
4. My mother is THE MOST SINGULARLY INSPIRATIONAL PERSON IN MY LIFE
You should all meet her. If you find value in me, she’ll blow you out of the water. If I had to choose one person, either me or my mom, it would be her hands down.
5. I’m VERY spiritual
I get that from my mom. (She’s extremely spiritual and is a master of all the spiritual arts. You name it she does it.) I notice the signs all around me that point to answers i need to pay attention to in my life. I listen to the songs my itunes/iphone is playing on shuffle and pay attention to what is going through my mind at the time, what words pop out, what i overhear, what i see. Everything is in tune around me. I bring the 3rd dimension to a heightened state is the 4th dimension. The present is a present. Stay in the moment for its all we have.
6. I have two gauged ears size 6 or 8 (i forget)
They are bolted screwbacks that look like little nuts and bolts. These will get changed out when i inherit my mothers diamond earrings after her spiritual body no longer needs them and her physical body no longer can use them. Her earrings hold her power and symbolize everything I hold dear about her to me. I also have a FULL back tattoo that is a set of angel wings stretching across my back onto my shoulders and down on to my buttcheeks. I’m still in the process of getting it created but the outline is a start. Also, it’s my first tattoo. Go big or go home! ;P
7. I’m completely Straight Edge
I tried to be this when i was younger because it was the cool thing to do in the hardcore scene but when you truly want to do something you dont do it with your mind, you do it with all of your being. I used to smoke, drink, do drugs like a crazyman. I dont regret any night but there are sure some interesting experiences! The way I kicked all of those vices was by asking myself WHY i was doing them, to fill what void, then filling it and POOF the need was gone. AA/NA isnt necessary if you truly will it into power, hence willpower. Too many people do things based on face value and not true depth. I am a fuller more productive person today because of my faith in myself.
7a. I also kicked mental instability through sheer willpower
I used to be severely Manic Depressive that turned into Bi-polar disorder, as many do due to misprescribing drugs (Paxil did that for me). This led down the road of anxiety and hallucinations (everything has a cause & effect) Eventualy I was on Lexapro, Lithium (!!), Risperdal and Diazepam all at once. Needless to say I was a zombie not feeling anything at all. I was a productive zombie but that was the last straw. After that point I decided to take complete control of my life and create my reality according to my own power. I told myself that I could do anything and be anything so I did just that. You can be and do anything you want. You just have to believe it to the point that it becomes your reality. Never doubt yourself for one moment.
FYI, I quit everything i was ever ‘using’ COLD TURKEY, including prescription meds.
Obviously there are MANY things most people don’t know about me. Maybe if you get close enough to me you’ll get to know them. Just like Dante’s Inferno there are many levels to me as well.

Some things about you I knew and others I didn’t…I understood you kept them from me not to let me worry and be upset…you were right (at that time) to do so…In the place I’m in now, I know better…You are the best thing that has happened to me and this world, spiritually…and think about it, you’re still growing!!!…you go boy!!!
I can so relate to 5,7 & 7a , although straight edge I was not, more of a young idealistic gal in a “my body is a temple” kind of way until 16 and overly influenced that is! I then did what I could to give myself an edge/false courage to get by in social scenes, I think I did all of what you listed and some!! 7a, Im with you there but in a different way. I talk a little of my past on my own blog but not yet all of it. Im still working on bringing all my different sides together. I really admire your disclosure as it gives others more bravery in sharing their combat or eve accpetance over demons/life illusions.
I also do the same with my iPod and listen , feel and watch everything for signs and symbols!Drives my he the mans mad! Although I say Im doing it for my mediumship work, which is partially true, I just love seeing the world like that.
Gosh your mums post has made me emotional,(although Im unwell tonight so that just doubles the emotional metre!), how wonderful to have that sort of support and interest in your life from a parent. Lovely mums hey.
Ive added you to my blogs of note on my Gifted Hand blogroll by the way.

Hi Damien:
Reading about your journey makes me wonder about your age. Your experiences seemed to have come before your biological age.
Great Journey.

Your Mom sounds like a great person and its nice to hear a son or daughter talk with so much love and respect about their parents. It was also very interesting to read about your experiences, things we go through in life shape the great people of today and tomorrow.

Interesting. I had a lot of xstraight edgex friends back in the day. There’s not many left. I’m a Christian and was definitely in the hardcore/punk scene some years ago. The music is still in me, but haven’t been to a show in a long time…
